Who we are

Yamaja Engines Ltd. ("Yamaja," "we," "us") is Jamaica's authorised Yamaha Motor distributor, located at 35 Lady Musgrave Road, Kingston 5, Jamaica. This policy explains what information we collect through yamja.com, our WhatsApp assistant Claudia, and our customer/technician/dealer portals, and how we use it.

Information we collect

We collect information you give us directly:

• Contact form: name, email address, phone number, and the message you send us.
• WhatsApp (Claudia): your phone number and the content of messages you send to our WhatsApp number, so we can respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, prepare a quote or forward your lead to our sales team.
• Portal accounts (customer, dealer, technician, sales, admin): your email, name, and role, stored via our authentication provider, Supabase, to control access to parts lookup, pricing, and internal tools appropriate to your account type.
• Fisherman ID / registration status: if you tell us you are a registered fisherman, we note this to apply any applicable tax or programme treatment to your order.

We do not knowingly collect payment card details through the website; purchases and payments are handled in person or through your bank/payment provider directly.

How we use your information

• To respond to enquiries, prepare quotes, and process orders for engines, boats, parts, and service.
• To operate your portal account and show you the correct pricing, inventory, and tools for your account role.
• To follow up on leads and appointments (including automated WhatsApp reminders from Claudia).
• To improve our products, service, and this website.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Who we share it with

We share information only as needed to run the business:

• Supabase — our database and authentication provider, which stores portal accounts, leads, and inventory data.
• Cloudflare — our hosting and content-delivery provider for yamja.com.
• Meta / WhatsApp Business Platform — the messaging infrastructure Claudia runs on. Messages you send to our WhatsApp number are also subject to WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
• Our own sales and service staff, to fulfil your request.

We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Cookies and local storage

Portal pages use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember page preferences (such as which tab you last viewed). We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated and, where required by law, we will ask for your consent first.

Data retention

We keep lead and conversation records for as long as reasonably needed to service your enquiry and for our own business and legal record-keeping. Portal account data is kept for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward.

Your rights

Under Jamaica's Data Protection Act, 2020, you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, or request that we delete information we no longer need to keep. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

Security

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted connections, access controls, and role-based permissions in our systems) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will change when we do. Continued use of yamja.com or our WhatsApp assistant after an update means you accept the revised policy.
